The role means building strong, reliable APIs and data connections, making apps run better and more reliably, and working with different teams to build solutions that support key business needs and improve the customer experience.
Responsibilities:
- Strong skill in PL/SQL, with real experience in database stored procedures, improving queries, and managing data in large databases.
- Good hands-on knowledge of AWS cloud tools like EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, and API Gateway is a must, with the ability to build, launch, and maintain cloud-based apps at scale.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, tools like Docker, and microservices setup is a strong plus.
- Improve app performance by finding what’s slowing it down, fixing queries, using resources wisely, and following best practices to make things faster and stronger.
- Work with product owners, business analysts, and quality engineers to understand what’s needed, spot technical limits, and deliver improvements that add real value to the business.
- Follow secure coding practices, including login checks, access controls, data protection, and activity logs that help meet rules and reduce risks.
- Create and keep clear technical documents, like service designs, API details, database models, and deployment steps, to help the team share knowledge and work smoothly.
- Take part in code reviews, pair programming, and design discussions to keep coding standards high, make code easier to maintain, and support ongoing improvement in the team.
- Build automatic tests (unit, integration, and service-level) to make the system more reliable, support CI pipelines, and lower the chance of bugs during frequent updates.
- Find and fix tricky problems in live systems by checking logs, data, and traces, and apply fixes that prevent future issues.
- Help update and modernize old parts of the system by rebuilding them into smaller, cloud-friendly pieces that fit better with future plans.
- Work with infrastructure and DevOps teams to plan how updates are released, check app health, and make the release process smoother for hybrid work and day shifts.
- Keep learning about new AWS, Java, Spring Boot, and database tools to bring real improvements that make the system more stable and help both developers and customers.
Qualifications:
- Have real experience designing and building backend systems using Java and Spring Boot, with a focus on keeping code modular, easy to maintain, and easy to test.
- Have hands-on skill in SQL and PL/SQL, MySQL, including designing database layouts, writing complex queries, stored procedures, and speeding up performance.
- Have real experience using AWS for hosting apps, storing data, and connecting systems, while following good security and cost-saving practices.
- Have a solid understanding of REST API design, microservices, and how to connect systems so they work well together and can be reused.
- Have real experience using version control, build tools, and CI pipelines to deliver software in a reliable, repeatable way.
- Have strong problem-solving skills – able to study production issues, find the root cause, and apply lasting fixes that make the system stronger.
- Have good communication and teamwork skills to work well in a hybrid setup with spread-out teams and different people involved, while staying respectful and inclusive.
- Have 8 to 11 years of software engineering experience, with a track record of building stable, scalable, and secure solutions that help the business and have a positive impact.
